Our programmes require a diverse group of people for the following roles:
Middle School Camp (MSC) Team Leaders
The MSC Team Leaders bring exuberance to learning and personal growth at Mirrors Camps. They encourage the SuperCamp spirit and possesses the following qualities:
Foundational responsibilities
- Fully emotionally and mentally present during *pre-camp staff training and camp
- Substance-free for the duration of camp
- Available to stay on premises for each day of camp
- Creating trust and a safe place for campers to be open
- Building relationships with campers in an appropriate, fun way
- Supervising campers at all times and gently guiding team members into participation
- Facilitating appropriate group discussions and effective conflict resolution between campers
- Supporting production and course room logistics
*2-3 days of training required.
Youth Enrolment Team (YET) Volunteer
The YET are the foundation for a camper’s participation in Mirrors Programme. This team introduces the programme to young people and supports them through the enrolment process and possesses the following qualities:
Foundational responsibilities
- Fully emotionally and mentally present during *enrolment team training and during orientations
- Substance-free during volunteer hours
- Attending orientations and support campers with completing and signing all paperwork
- Interviewing campers on their goals and asking questions
- Committing to do whatever it takes to ensure a positive experience during the enrolment process
- Maintaining weekly communication with up to 4 campers and the Enrolment Manager over 6 weeks
- Organizing transportation for assigned campers to all enrolment-related events
- Attending Arrival Day to support camper attendance/participation
*2.5 days of training required.
Life Coach Team (LC) Volunteer
The LC volunteers help campers discover what their own personal “best” might be and spend 8 months coaching campers on achieving a personal life goal and deepening their character development. LC’s possess the following qualities:
Foundational responsibilities
- Fully emotionally and mentally present during LC training, monthly meetings and weekly coaching sessions with campers
- Substance-free during volunteer hours
- Be a life coach for a camper(s) and create a safe space for campers to connect and communicate with you.
- Holding weekly coaching sessions with students for at least 30 minutes
- Attending one Friday evening session per month with the cohort of coaches
- Attending one Saturday interactive session per month with the coaches and campers, including the community service project
- Ensuring campers have transportation to attend each Saturday session per month
- Completing and submitting a weekly progress report and a monthly reflection report
- Communicating with campers between weekly sessions
- Communicating with the Committed Partner Manager
- Completing evaluations and providing feedback on the programme
- Attending the completion ceremony
*4.5 days of training required.
Production Support Team (PST) Volunteer
The PST volunteers are the behind the scenes gurus who make all aspects of programming possible. This team supports the logistics of Mirrors events, including camps and possesses the following qualities:
Foundational responsibilities
- Able to lift at least 30lbs
- Attending *staff training for event or camp you are supporting
- Supporting logistics for the entirety of events
- Working under the guidance of the Production Manager to ensure all camp logistics and requirements are met
- Helping with the transport of supplies
- Supporting the set-up and breakdown of events
- Setting up and managing music for events and camps
*1-5 days of training required.
If you are unable to support in the areas listed above there are other ways to support Mirrors Programme by volunteering for Tag Days, providing administrative support and/or working on special projects to name a few.
